With the series OTHER PEOPLE’S PLASTIC or OPP for short, I am using the material of discarded plastic simply because there is an excess of it. Why not make something beautiful and positive?
Through the process of making these sculptures I am unintentionally elevating the raw material, a challenge I seek throughout my work by using recycled materials whenever possible. An example is one of my first installation works CONSUMPTION, created from 3 yrs of keeping my own personal trash, making garlands that filled an entire atrium. It inspired me to change my ways and laid the groundwork for this genre of work.
